Ecuador has an incidence of 1 in 550 babies born with Down Syndrome, which is known as a genetic disorder that affects the development of the individual who suffers from it, so attending to an adequate preparation of its health professionals is an important task. The training of highly prepared doctors begins at the university and the incorporation of practical reality contributes to this end. The objective of the research is to diagnose the impact of the case study on Down Syndrome, in teaching about the subject in 4th year medical students of UNIANDES. For this, theoretical and empirical methods were used, among which are the bibliographic review and the interview. As a result, the case report of a patient with Down syndrome due to mosaicism, a 4-year-old male who presented a generalized hypotonic nuclear alteration, congestive upper respiratory tract symptoms, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bilateral cryptorchidism, was obtained. Interviews were conducted with the students who worked on the report, and it was obtained that this technique has a high impact on their training and in deepening the particularities of Down Syndrome.
