CUENCA GARCELL, Katiuska; BELLO MENDEZ, Alejandro Ernesto; DE ARMAS AGUILA, Yamila Ramona  y  GONZALEZ MARTIN, Eleuterio Roberto. Appreciation of human capital and human talent in public health within Cuban intellectual capital. Infodir [online]. 2023, n.40  Epub 01-Abr-2023. ISSN 1996-3521.

Introduction:

Human capital determines the economic progress that a country can present; it establishes that the more qualified or specialised it is, the greater the positive effects generated.

Objective:

To analyse the value of human capital in health and its impact as intellectual capital in the development of Cuban public health.

Author's position: The National Health System has been progressively developing and strengthening since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959. This demanded parallel progress in the system of training and improvement of human resources for health that made it possible to strengthen the quality and relevance of professional and teacher development; it gave particular attention to medical education, training and improvement of human capital in public health in the postgraduate modality, such as doctorates, specialties, master's degrees and other organisational forms of teaching.

Conclusions:

Human capital is an intangible asset that has the capacity to support increased productivity, drive innovation and thus competitiveness. The concept assumed for the practice of human capital management in Cuba comprises economics, science and ethical awareness. The training of health professionals in Cuba is comprehensive and humanistic, and is essentially carried out in the health services and in the community.

Palabras clave : human capital; intellectual capital; Cuban public health; human talent.
