Resumen

SANCHEZ SUAREZ, Yasniel et al. An approach to circular economy and its contribution in the pandemic context. Infodir [online]. 2023, n.40  Epub 01-Abr-2023. ISSN 1996-3521.

Introduction:

The circular economy is a new paradigm of economic prosperity, sustainability and resource utilisation. The situation caused by COVID-19 raises the need for the restoration of national economies, mainly in developing countries. The circular economy sets trends to achieve major socio-environmental and economic goals and those linked to international treaties against climate change.

Objective:

To assess the contribution of the circular economy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods:

A systematic literature review was conducted based on the guidelines of the PRISMA statement and the In Ordinatio method, which served as a support to outline the main findings. Only research and review articles published in the period 2016-2022 were covered, without language restriction, in the specialised databases SCOPUS, SciELO and Sciencedirect.

Development:

In the business world, the circular economy is recognised as a competitive and sustainable development strategy. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, phenomena have surfaced that confirm the need for a circular model that promotes new forms of business and jobs.

Conclusions:

The circular economy is an essential tool for achieving an eco-efficient, rational and sustainable economy. It has emerged as an alternative to support the post-pandemic economic revival of many countries.
