The article approaches how to evaluate the values that the diagnosis variables take, which characterize the technical state of diesel internal combustion engine. The analysis can help to find in the data available, significant and useful information to know the causes of the changes in the diagnosis variable values. In addition, it allows evaluating them before they get to the limits defined by the manufacturer’s information. That information can facilitate the opportune decision-making while the diesel internal combustion engine is operated
