Resumen

PEREZ-LEIRA, Ramón; CABRERA-ESTUPINAN, Eric; HINOSTROZA-GARCIA, Marcos Israel  y  MANZABA-CARVAJAL, Jordan René. The Irrigation Regime for Crops in Manabí, Ecuador: Climatological Study. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.1, pp. 5-12. ISSN 2071-0054.

Based on the data of the 49 meteorological stations of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology existing in Manabí Province for a period of 23 years, this study is carried out with the objective of defining the behavior of rainfall and evapotranspiration of the reference crop for purposes of irrigation. It was found that only 20 stations had consistent series for statistical analysis of rainfall and only in two stations it was possible to analyze evaporation. After applying 10 empirical methods and two statistical methods, it was proved that the average historical behavior of precipitations for the 75% probability of overrun shows a rainy season (January to April) where 83% of the annual precipitation and a dry one are concentrated (May to December) with the remaining 17%. The highest values of evapotranspiration of the reference crop (obtained fro m applying nine methods) were in March and May, while February and September had the lowest values. The results obtained constitute the most accurate climatological basis available so far for irrigation planning and water consumption of crops in Manabí Province.

Palabras clave : precipitation; evapotranspiration; probability of overrun; weather stations.
