ESCOBAR GARCIA, Martha Cecilia  y  INFANTE VILLAFANE, Martha. Competency-based education of librarians and information sciences professionals. trf [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.1, pp. 11-20. ISSN 2077-2955.

ABSTRACT This paper approaches competent professional training as an alternative university competency-based education. The objective of the article is to analyze the competent formation of librarians and information sciences professionals from three different perspectives: the socio educative dimension, the curricular and didactic dimension and the professional attitudes. Several methods were used to complete the research: a curricular didactic conception was constructed to back up the curriculum of librarians and information sciences professionals trained at Ecuadorian universities. The findings outline the importance of the competency-based education at the majors just mentioned; highlight the relation between the socio educative dimension, the curricular and didactic dimension and the professional attitudes leading the researchers to arrive at the conclusion that this three-fold dimension model fosters the integration technological social and university demands.
