The work aims to explain the concept and methodology for quality assurance at the University of the Gulf of California, Mexico. It has opted for a non-experimental research methodology, exploratory-descriptive, with a focus on joint research (qualitative and quantitative). From a conceptual documentary analysis theoretical analysis of quality in universities in the international arena, which allows authors to pursue the subject it is made. At the University of the Gulf of California (UGC) it has developed a methodology for quality assurance summarizing the accumulated knowledge on the subject in the international literature and systematized experiences of this institution. The methodology applied since 2006, but certified in 2008 by ISO 9001: 2008, ratified in 2010-2015, as well as accredited by the Standard IWA 2: 2007 in October / 2012. It is essential to start by conceptualizing quality, nourishing itself of all international experiences but analyzed in the light of multifactorial realities of the context in which a system or an institution they work.
