Resumen

This document is the result of a review on the importance of formulating, designing and implementing long-term strategies, whose objective is to address how business strategies allow a competitive advantage in organizations through the design, formulation, implementation and control of them. The Companies could no longer obtain competitive advantages only through the price of their products and / or services, nor be managed to obtain short-term profitability, currently their vision is towards the formulation of long-term strategies. The methodology used has been from the theoretical point of view, the analysis, the synthesis and the documentary review of bibliographic references related to the business strategy, as a generator of a competitive business advantage, as to obtain returns through long-term strategic planning. Among the conclusions, the importance of formulating, designing and implementing strategies to obtain long-term results was evident, since at present the function of the manager is restricted to generating only financial performance.
