Studies on tourism development in Ecuador are recurring among academics and researchers who are interested in clarifying the way in which progress is made in this sector, reflecting on achievements, conceptions and ideas that may make it more difficult to understand the way forward. The objective of this study is to reveal the synergy of the development of community tourism in Ecuador, based on the considerations that the authors have built as part of their teaching and scientific work. In this purpose the particularities of community tourism are explained, the positions that are assumed are justified and a referential framework is presented, useful for new discussions in this framework.
