NIEVES ESTRADA, Yeline et al. The design of an environmental management system in the provincial Historical Archive of Granma, Cuba. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp. 29-39. Epub 02-Abr-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
This work was carried out with the main objective of designing an environmental management system (EMS) in the Historical Archive of Granma (HAG) based on ISO 14001: 2015. In correspondence with the assumed policy, an environmental program (PSGA) was conceived, divided into four subprograms, where the objectives, goals, actions, deadlines, resources, persons responsible and indicators were defined. This program is aimed to get transformations in the infrastructure, addressing threats and reducing vulnerabilities, improving workers’ skills, developing saving practices, recycling, reuse, and the responsible management of solid and dangerous residuals. Depending on the implementation of the EMS, compliance with the applicable legislation and the documented information required by the standard were taken in account, observing that 25 articles contained in the Cuban regulations on document preservation show a relationship with 11 numerals of ISO 14001:2015 and through 26 types of evidence, compliance with all regulations can be shown; achieving an operational and documentary integration visualized in common practices and a simplification in the record. An Environmental Management Committee was created with new functions assigned to the working group, on the basis of the consideration of unnecessary changes in the HAG organization.
