Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a new vision of the strategic management and business ethics of SMEs, which is why it represents a determining factor when it comes to guaranteeing their sustainability. The objective of the study was to analyze the degree to which the practice of CSR is found in SMEs in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A field and documentary methodology were applied, where the survey was improved as a data collection technique, and the questionnaire as an instrument. An intentional result was carried out in the SMEs of Guayaquil, selecting 210 belonging to eight sectors. The results showed that the knowledge and execution of CSR are minimal, due to the cost involved and because it is not considered necessary in the course of business. On the other hand, it was found that linking with the community and donations in emergency situations were the processes that SMEs considered had the greatest impact on corporate social management. It is concluded that CSR practices in the selected sample of SMEs are still in the development phase, to promote their consolidation it is necessary to join efforts between the public sector and civil organizations through the establishment of efficient policies.
