ALMEIDA, Evelyn; CAJAS, Diego y AMARU CHIMBA, Jumandi. Relevant Aspects of the Andean Cosmovision through Narratives to strengthen the Identity and Cultural Pride of the Kichwa Communities of Northern Ecuador. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2021, vol.9, n.2 Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 2308-0132.
The narrative is the primary basis that facilitates sharing, experiencing, and transmitting indigenous peoples’ ancient knowledge and worldview. However, the ignorance of the forms of transmission of knowledge has meant that importance is not given to these peoples’ narratives manifested through their languages. This phenomenon has occurred many times due to modernity that promotes literacy in Spanish as the main means of transmission of knowledge. The present study aims to identify relevant aspects of the Andean cosmovision through narratives of Kichwa representative members in the Agato community in Imbabura, Ecuador. Their identity and cultural pride are strengthened by three fundamental aspects: nutraceutical gastronomy in indigenous communities, local symbiotic biodiversity, and the animation of inanimate beings.
