Resumen

ARIAS-MULET, Yesenia; MARTINEZ-HERNANDEZ, Miguel Ángel  y  GONZALEZ, Cecilia. Brief summary of the winter season 2017-2018. Rev. Cubana Met. [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.1  Epub 01-Mar-2019. ISSN 2664-0880.

This work described the main characteristics of the 2017-2018 winter season. For the analysis of this winter season we used the information received from the cold fronts summaries of each of the provincial meteorological centers, which were affected by those systems, as well as the chronological data on the cold fronts of the Forecast Center archive of the Institute of Meteorology. The winter season 2017-2018 began on October 25, 2017 with the arrival in Cuba of the first cold front and extended until April 16, 2018, the day that affected the cold front number 11, the last of this winter season. This winter season was classified as not very active in relation to climate value (19 FF per season), González (1999) equaling in season record with fewer cold fronts, to the 1996-1997 season. The analysis of the sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific and its incidence on the behavior of the 2017-2018 winter season is also discussed here. And it highlights the wind and temperature fields associated with the cold fronts that affected the Cuban territory.

Palabras clave : winter season; cold front.
