People management has always been the most important component of an organization's management. It is the essential asset for which the concept of human capital was born. This first part of the paper analyzes the management of this capital in history, until the emergence of the school of thought related to Scientific Management. Some of the most representative experiences of human capital management throughout history were studied. The work was divided into two parts, given its length. The second part begins with the remaining schools of management and then deals with the experiences of high-tech companies, sports teams, the Catholic Church and informal and little studied organizations, such as the Italian Mafia and the Cuban Regla de Ocha. Finally, it concludes with the university-business relationship.
