FERRO VALDES, Ernesto M et al. Field’s experiences on participatory development of simple maize’s hybrid, in agricultural low input conditions. cultrop [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.2, pp. 61-69. ISSN 0258-5936.
An investigation was conducted with the objective to evaluate a participatory methodology for maize’s hybrid development, in agricultural low inputs conditions at farmer’s property in La Palma, province of Pinar del Río. Were used as progenitors, ten varieties more votes received during the maize diversity’s fair. Two self fecundation cycles was performed as well as the evaluation of eight describers. The recessive charge was analyzed in F1 and consanguineous depression was evaluated for each generation. All data were processed using Excel and SPSS 11.5. It was found that lines didn’t tolerate the consanguineous depression in the second generation in low use of agricultural inputs, and F1 generation from local progenitors, manifest lower depression that those obtained from progenitors from other provinces of the country.
