The objective of this paper is to learn about the present use of diagnosis or analysis of healthcare situation at the primary care, particularly for the basic health team and to submit a procedure that will facilitate its application as a health problem-solving method. The paper was based on interview made to conveniently selected experts on this topic an also on the review of documents drawn up in Cuba before and after the emergence of the comprehensive family care programs. The main result was that, despite the progress in the implementation of this procedure, there are still deficiencies that hinder its correct application and further implementation. It was concluded thata a unique procedure based on a health problem-solving process is required. We recommended giving training and advice to the basic health team and group at the primary health care and carriying thata allow more practice at undergraduate level in order to learn about this procedure.
