Resumen

GARCIA FARINAS, Anai et al. Cost - effectiveness of vaccination against rotavirus. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2019, vol.45, n.3  Epub 15-Oct-2019. ISSN 1561-3127.

The available evidence for commercial rotavirus vaccines supports an impact on the reduction in hospitalizations and medical consultations associated with rotavirus diarrheal disease. However, it is also known that for poor and even developing countries, the costs of sustaining an immunization program that includes rotavirus vaccines are relatively high. This paper presents a synthesis of cost-effectiveness studies related to the introduction of rotavirus vaccination in diverse contexts, based on the recognition of existing evidence on the effectiveness and impact of the vaccinated child population. In this way, it seeks to contribute to the body of knowledge and information among researchers, physicians, and health professionals, but also directors and authorities in charge of making decisions for the introduction of a rotavirus vaccine in Cuba.

Palabras clave : rotavirus; vaccines; cost-effectiveness.
