A teaching intervention in 42 adolescents of the female sex, that were in 10th grade in "Ramón Campa Delgado" urban high school Institute from Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba province, was conducted from April to June, 2008, aiming at modifying their knowledge on pregnancy and abortion. A questionnaire was applied before and after the period of intervention, to assess the changes that occurred. For the statistical analysis the porcentage was used as a summary and the Mc Nemar test was applied, with a 95% significance level. The conclusion was that the teaching intervention contributed to modify significantly the knowledge of the adolescents on the important issues treated and it was recommended to extend this type of study to the junior high school institutions and senior high school institutions to increase the risk perception on abortion and reduce the morbidity in this population.
