This research was aimed at determining whether or not the installation of a biomass power plant in the Rum Factory of Santa Cruz was feasible. In this respect a preliminary economic and financial analysis of the purchase and start-up of a wastewater treatment plant was performed. This plant was considered to be an efficient technical and economical solution to the problem of solid waste resulting from production process. A biomass plant would provide the electricity needed to power the Factory. The abstract-logical, economic and statistical, and monographic methods for information processing were used, as well as such research techniques as strategic diagnosis, unstructured interview, and observation; and a body of writings on this subject was reviewed. Finally, economic and financial indicators were calculated, and sensitivity and scenario analyzes were carried out, which proved the installation to be feasible.
