Resumen
LEYVA BRAVO, Jansel y BELTRAN CASANOVA, David. Wireless communication through the 60 ghz band. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.2, pp. 89-96. ISSN 2218-3620.
The constant development of communications leads to the creation of applications that demand higher data transfer rates. In this sense, wireless access networks have been at a disadvantage in relation to wired networks, until recently, when the IEEE 801.11ac standard exceeded 1Gbps, operating in the 5GHz band. However, the available bandwidth at this frequency is limited to support the large number of high performance applications and users that will exist in the coming years. For this reason, research is being conducted to exploit the millimeter wave due to its increased bandwidth; where the 60 GHz band is the pioneer for next-generation wireless communications (5G). This paper aims to analyze the potential and challenges of communication through the aforementioned band, as well as its standardization process, in which the latest IEEE 801.11ad WLAN specification stands out.
