YBARGOLLIN-MACHADO, Sergio E.; PEREZ-DIAZ, Marlen; OROZCO-MORALES, Rubén  y  ROQUE-DIAZ, Reinaldo. Noise reduction in SPECT images using the DCRG-PPXA method of Total Variation. Rev cuba cienc informat [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.1, pp. 17-29.  Epub 01-Mar-2022. ISSN 2227-1899.

It is necessary to continue research in the field of noise reduction in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) images. Image quality and medical diagnoses are affected by the presence of noise. In this investigation a method based on total variation for noise reduction in SPECT images is presented. For the study, the Jaszczak phantom was used for the tomographic sections and the processing of the method. Objective image quality metrics were used to check the quality of the images obtained (SNR, C, CNR and MTF). It was obtained that DCRG-PPXA reduces noise in the images while preserving a high contrast and spatial resolution, achieving a good compromise relationship with the amount of noise eliminated.

Palabras clave : SPECT; noise; image quality; total variation.
