MOSTACERO LEON, José; TARAMONA RUIZ, Luis y SANCHEZ BATISTA, Antonio. Social and Economic Impact of Sustainable Use of Endemic Wood Species on North Peruvian Communities. Rev retos [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.2, pp. 172-205. ISSN 2306-9155.
Actions are suggested to achieve social and economic impacts of sustainable forestry on north Peruvian communities based on the taxonomic, phyto geographic, and utilization inventories of native wood species, which have been used for thousands of years, and should be known, validated, and be given added value. The data were collected through botanical explorations of several locations north of Peru, between 2008 and 2016. Furthermore, specialized literature was reviewed, and additional information was provided by personal experience, from researchers and the local population. The number of species reported was eighty-six. These elements laid the groundwork for recommendation of encouraging actions, and indicators to evaluate sustainable development in the forest sector. This proposal can be useful in different locations of Peru and other Latin American countries.
