Introduction:

the cervical approach with ligation of the great vessels of the neck is a procedure that every maxillofacial surgeon must master because of its importance in emergency cases, where the control of these structures is essential when avoiding a fateful event.

Case report:

a 48-year-old male patient with a medical history who is treated in an emergency guard body after being attacked with a knife in the facial region is treated. Cervical approach is performed to control bleeding.

Conclusion:

the approach of these patients has an interdisciplinary nature. The patient fully recovered from the surgery after a stay in intensive care and has no sequelae obtaining very aesthetic scars in one of the most visible portions of the body.
