VELAZQUEZ GONZALEZ, Katia; VALDES LLERENA, Ricardo  y  PEREZ GUIROLA, Yakelin. Postoperative analgesia in elective thoracic surgery. Rev cuba anestesiol reanim [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.2, pp. 107-118. ISSN 1726-6718.

Introduction: Pain control is problem a difficult solution leading to a 30-50% incidence. Objective: To compare he four analgesic models used in treatment of postoperative pain. Methodological design: A quasi-experimental study was conducted in patients considered candidates of elective thoracic surgery of three Hospitals from Ciudad de La Habana. The Group I (n = 19) received subcutaneous morphine. Group II (n = 12) received morphine in peridural space and those of groups III (n = 9) and group IV (n = 12) received morphine plus local anesthesia and local anesthesia only, respectively in that same space for a total of 52 patients. We maintained a dosage with intravenous Dipyrone infusion each 8 hours for the four groups. Results: Sex, age and incision type hadn't influence on pain intensity. The four treatment methods were similarly effectiveness in pain relief with scarce associated complications. Recovery analgesia was less used in group I which had the minor hospital stay. Conclusions: The four analgesic models were effectiveness and safe with subcutaneous morphine as an alternative.

Palabras clave : Postoperative pain; subcutaneous morphine.
