Intercultural pedagogy bases on the respect and treatment of intercultural diversity; both elements are of great importance within the context of the new Cuban university and represent starting points to carry out formative processes. University extension becomes important due to significant changes occurred within the framework of university culture after the universalization of Higher Education. This paper presents the theoretical foundations that, from an intercultural pedagogy, appear during the formative process; represent referents to be considered when improving both pedagogical management and students’ cultural formation; and are scientific basis to new proposals taking into account deficiencies within university extension.
