Resumen

SAINZ PADRON, Loisi. Contribution of the Study of 18th Century Notarial Documents to the Reconstruction of the History of Legal Sciences in Cuba. UH [online]. 2023, n.297  Epub 10-Jun-2023. ISSN 0253-9276.

A sample of 70 notarial documents from the 18th century, belonging to the archives of Pinar del Río and Havana, was used to characterize the legal lexicon present in them. The results allow advancing some ideas on the consolidation of the studied documentary types, and in relation to the way in which the juridical tradition is susceptible or not to the realization of modifications according to its social value. The diversity of notarial legal acts as opposed to the homogeneity in terms of the forms of denomination collected in the semantic fields studied corroborates the fact that the notarial tradition counted on a wide terminology that Cuban scribes knew and that had, at least in the 18th century, a certain degree of specialization, which is deduced from the scarce presence of the studied words in the general dictionaries.

Palabras clave : notarial document; legal lexicon; 18th century.
