Resumen

MORAIS, Carlos. Dialogue of Creon and Antigone, by António Sérgio: Fourth Variation on the Antigone Myth. UH [online]. 2023, n.297  Epub 20-Jun-2023. ISSN 0253-9276.

After writing Antigone. A drama in three acts, in 1930, which was a recreation of the Sophoclean myth and little more than a pamphlet text against the military dictatorship, António Sérgio (1883-1969) returned to the theme when he wrote, around 1950, an invective against the Salazar dictatorship. The author published, at the end of 1958, Pátio das Comédias, das Palestras e das Pregações: Jornada Sexta based on this unpublished text, and he intended to publish (probably in 1960) the Dialogue of Creon and Antigone, autonomously, which was based on the third and fourth scenes of Act II of the 1950 edition. In this text, Antigone echoes, in her long speeches, the thoughts of the author about dictatorial regimes, thoughts that are present in many of his writings.

Palabras clave : Antigone; António Sérgio; fraternal cooperation; democracy; military dictatorship; Salazarism; Sophocles..
