Resumen

MOLINET CARRERAS, Ansberto  y  HING LEON, Joaquín Roberto. Vaccination coverage and its impact on infants with Barrio Adentro inclusion in Sanare. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.12, pp. 1736-1742. ISSN 1029-3019.

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 608 infants from 2 community comprehensive health areas, recorded in "Dr. José María Bengoa" Hospital of Sanare , Venezuelan state of Lara, during 2010 to determine the compliance with the vaccination schedule in these infants. The most represented age group was that of 7-12 months and 29 days old, which showed a favorable educational work on the first level of health care. There were difficulties in communication and accessibility to the corresponding health area, as well as with the care coverage both by Cuban and Venezuelan professional personnel. Similarly, the vaccination schedule with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin, pentavalent and measles-mumps-rubella vaccine was not as estimated in spite of the advances achieved, which main negative factors were the lack of vaccines, missed opportunities and poor accessibility to the vaccination.

Palabras clave : vaccination; vaccination coverage; infant; primary health care; Venezuela.
