Halitosis is a reason of frequent visit which the doctor faces in the primary care. It is a symptom of multiple stomatological diseases, but a differential diagnosis with other disorders should be considered (extraoral, systemic and psychological disorders), which also cause it. Besides the symptomatic general measures (oral hygiene), an specific treatment is also indicated according to its cause. Keeping in mind the social, economic and health impact that it causes, some general aspects are exposed on the topic
