Resumen
CORONA CARPIO, Marcia Hortensia; RAMON JIMENEZ, Ruth y URGELLES MATOS, Wiljer. Injuries of the oral mucous in elderly with total dental prosthesis. MEDISAN [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.7, pp. 813-818. ISSN 1029-3019.
A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 96 elderly with total dental prosthesis was carried out. They were assisted in the Prosthesis Service of "Lidia Doce Sánchez" Dental Clinic in Guantánamo, from January, 2014 to April, 2015, to determine the oral lesions that they presented. Among the analyzed variables there were: age, sex, type of lesion, localization, hygienic state of the prosthesis and continuous use. In the series there was a prevalence of the 80 years and over age group (38.5%) and the subprosthesis stomatitis (54.7%) as the most frequent lesion, fundamentally in the palate (57.3%). It is recommended to deepen in the study of lesions of the oral mucous, related to the use of dental prosthesis in this population
