Resumen
CASTRO-MONTESINO, Daelys et al. Educational strategy for the prevention of couple infertility in San Juan and Martínez. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.4 Epub 01-Jul-2023. ISSN 1561-3194.
Introduction:
infertility is a health problem that affects couples of reproductive age.
Objective:
to design an educational strategy on the causes of infertility in couples in the population of San Juan y Martínez 2019-2021.
Methods:
observational, descriptive, prospective longitudinal study. The sample consisted of 189 infertile couples. The interview, documentary analysis and programme database allowed us to evaluate epidemiological behaviour. Descriptive statistics were used, X2 (p<0.05), Odd Ratio and Relative Risk (OR>1, RR>1) were calculated and an educational strategy was designed.
Results:
the mean age of the female population was 28,9±7,8 years, 67,2 % had secondary infertility. Of the male population, 60,3 % had primary infertility, with a mean age of 32,4±6,1 years. Women predominate (15,3 %), with the presence of endocrinometabolic diseases. Among the causes of female infertility, infections accounted for 39,2 %, tubal (19,6 %) and ovarian (18 %) factors. In male infertility, the sperm causes were 63,7 %, testicular causes (22,8 %) and infections (5,3 %).
Conclusions:
the epidemiological behaviour of infertility allowed the design of an educational strategy to promote healthy lifestyles in the population at risk as part of preventive treatment.
