Background: the epidemiologic analysis of dental caries as health problem has been approached according to several variables of the health-disease process, but the bibliometric approach is a study and reference method because of its valuable contributions to this disease knowledge. Objective: carrying out a bibliometric study of Cuban authors publishing on dental caries during the years 2012-2015. Materials and methods: descriptive-type bibliometric study, with temporal analysis and retrospective character. The studied variables were: publication, publication year, journals and books, place of publication, article's typology, age groups recommended by WHO, number of authors and behaviour of bibliographic references. Outcomes: 2013 was the year with more scientific production (37.9 %). The journals with more publications on dental caries were Gaceta Médica Espirituana, Revista Cubana de Estomatología, MEDISAN and Revista Médica Electrónica (10,8 %); original articles represented 75.7 % and the province with higher number of publications was La Habana (17.9 %). Multiple authorship represented 32.4 % and Price index got the higher percent in the year 2015 (46.8 %). Conclusions: 37 publications of Cuban authors on dental caries were reviewed in the period 2012-2015, most of them published in 2013.The journals with bigger number of publications were Gaceta Médica Espirituana, Revista Cubana de Estomatología, MEDISAN and Revista Médica Electrónica.
