Resumen

CALUNGA FERNANDEZ, José Luis et al. NEPHROPROTECTIVE OZONE ROLE ON EXPERIMENTAL CHRONIC RENAL DAMAGE. Rev. CENIC Cienc. Biol [online]. 2023, vol.54, pp. 23-29.  Epub 19-Oct-2023. ISSN 2221-2450.

Advanced protein glycosylation products (APGP) represent an important mediators of renal tissue damage in different clinical situations. Knowing, the nephroprotective effects of rectal ozonetherapy (ROT), the objective of the study was to demostrate its influence on fructosemine levels and activity of phospholipase A2 in kidney tissue with chronic renal failure by renal mass ablation (RMA) in rats. Female Wistar rats with body weight between 200 and 220 g divided into four experimental groups were selected: a control group without renal damage, another control group with renal damage by RMA and two other groups also with renal damage and ozone therapy and oxygen also via the rectal route, respectively. The results evidenced the significant reduction p< 0.05 of fructosamine levels and phospholipase A2 activity in the renal tissue of rats treated with OTR. Therefore, it is concluded that OTR demonstrated anti-inflammatory action, as a contributing mechanism to the preservation of structure and function kidney subjected to chronic experimental renal damage, by ablation of the renal mass.
