Cuba integrates Natural and Traditional Medicine within the National Health System, with eleven regulated therapeutic modalities. Every year the Basic List of Natural Products is updated, many of which are used in the treatment of digestive diseases. To describe the integration of natural products in the treatment protocols of the Institute of Gastroenterology. Retrospective, descriptive study, where the treatment protocols of the institution and the statistical reports on the use of therapeutic modalities of Natural and Traditional Medicine in the period 2016-2021 were reviewed. In general, Natural and Traditional Medicine is integrated into 14 protocols related to the specialty of Gastroenterology and another 10 for the treatment of comorbidities, 24 in total, including natural products in all cases. The most used natural products were homeopathic medicines (5,136 prescriptions, 12 protocols), phytopharmaceuticals (4,425 prescriptions, 22 protocols), topical and oral ozonized oils (364 prescriptions, 5 protocols) and bee products (208 prescriptions, 8 protocols). The 65.6% of the patients who were prescribed these treatments were consulted for comorbidities associated with digestive diseases, mainly orthopedic conditions, and 34.4% consulted for specific gastrointestinal disorders. No adverse reactions to these products were recorded in the period studied. Natural products are integrated into 24 treatment protocols of the Institute of Gastroenterology, with a significant use in clinical and scientific bases.
