SOMOZA REY, Naima; JUSTIZ AGUILA, Ailyn C.  y  CRUZ RODRIGUEZ, Roberto C.. Synoptic conditions that favor precipitation during the morning in the rainy period in Havana. Rev. Cubana Met. [online]. 2020, vol.26, n.1  Epub 01-Mar-2020. ISSN 2664-0880.

The occurrence of rainfall in the morning is cause for a series of synoptic patterns. The behavior of variables such as relative humidity, air temperature, as well as the wind field, keys an important role in this type of meteorological phenomenon. For this reason, the main objective of the present investigation is determining the synoptic conditions that favor precipitations during the morning in the rainy season for Havana (Cuba). For this study, we used the data of meteorological stations of the province of Havana, reanalysis maps and the meteorological variables on the entire tropospheric column. We obtained a total of five synoptic conditions (four of them with a high statistical significance). For this, we analyzed the average maps of the meteorological variables in the levels of 850, 700, 500 and 200 hPa, searching favorable conditions for the occurrence of this phenomenon. For the relative humidity, the low and medium levels were those of greater contribution to the rainy process, decreasing with height. In all cases, the temperature had not a significant contribution to the morning rainfall. The wind field in the horizontal had not an important contribution, however it presented a strong vertical shear and this peculiarity influences the atmospheric instability and therefore contributes to a greater development of convective activity.
