A study was recently concluded in Cuba to treat ovarian cancer. This is one of the most complex and largest studies that has ever been conducted in our country. Taking into account the practical experiences obtained during the conduction of this study and the review of publications dealing with this topic, it was our objective to present the main practical considerations to perform the clinical trials in the ovarian cancer treatment. It was proved that aspects such as the coordination among the services related to the attention of this disease and the informed consent procedure influence on the velocity of inclusion of the patients. To guarantee the external validity of the results, it is essential to select adequately the treatment of the control group, as well as the methods and criteria for the evaluation of the response to the treatment.
