ROMERO MOLINA, Bertha Elena; PATTERSON PENA, Marisol de la Caridad  e  CONSUEGRA MARTINEZ, Juan Gustavo. Assessing the Postgraduate Course in English Language Taken by the Faculty of the University of Informatics Sciences. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2016, vol.35, n.1, pp. 99-113. ISSN 0257-4314.

This work examines how the postgraduate course in English language at the University of Informatics Sciences has been taken to date. An updated view of the needs had by the staff being both experts and non-experts in English to communicate in a foreign language was suggested, by taking into account the University's features through a systemic view. Different postgraduate courses feasible to be taken and their modes were also examined with the aim of eliminating their weaknesses detected and focusing on the English language for specific purposes, both academic and professional. Additionally, the need for English experts' knowledge of methodological issues to be updated and their communicative skills to be enhanced was shown as essential for non-philological discipline professionals' development in English language to be promoted.

Palavras-chave : professional development; education; communicative needs.
