The present work is aimed at evaluating some of the experiences in the application of the comprehensive chain of command (CCC) in the higher education institution. The comparative study performed made possible to synthetize the main characteristics of the different models and methodologies analyzed, and to acknowledge CCC as a very useful tool for the follow-up and control of the institutional strategy; at the same time, it makes possible to align the strategic objectives with the operative management of the university institutions.
