FLORIDO BACALLAO, Marilyn  e  ALVAREZ GIL, Marta. Some aspect related to heat tolerance in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). cultrop [online]. 2015, vol.36, suppl.1, pp. 77-95. ISSN 1819-4087.

Although tomato plants can grow in a wide range of climatic conditions, their vegetative and reproductive growth is severely impaired at high temperatures, resulting in reduced yield and fruit quality. This high-temperature sensitivity is particularly important in areas with tropical or subtropical climates. In such environments, heat stress may become a major limiting factor for tomatoe production. This work was focused in explain different aspect related to heat stress tolerance at cellular and whole plant levels, difficulties on the quantification of stress tolerance, as well as the necessity on an understanding of the physiological mechanisms and genetic basis for thermotolerance in order to achievement progress in tomato plant breeding

Palavras-chave : stress; fruit set; plant breeding; heat tolerance, tomato.
