The changes occurred during the last years in the fields of computer science, information and communication technology have accelerated the development of the so-called information society, where a significant part of the human activity is devoted to the production, management and use of information. As the amount of available information has increased dramatically with the appearance of Internet, it has been necessary to use more efficient means to organize and retrieve relevant information. In this sense, the virtual libraries are a very valuable working model. The basic knowledge connected with the model of virtual library, in general, and of health, in particular, is presented so as to make the project of the virtual health library of the International Center of Neurological Restoration. Its technical aspects, as well as the efforts made up to now and the requirements for its implementation are taken into consideration. The papers on the virtual health library are within the process of computerization of the Cuban society.
