The first efforts made for the professional training of the Cuban librarian up to the social changes experimenteed by Cuba at the beginning of the Revolution, when the first middle level library schools and the university career of this discipline were created, are historically outlined. The investigations developed at the middle level of the publilc librarian and at the university level are analyzed, starting from the final papers presented for their graduations.
