GUERRA ORDONEZ, Marta; TORRES IDAVOY, Dinorah  e  MARTINEZ POL, Leticia. Validación del uso tradicional de plantas medicinales cultivadas en Cuba. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2001, vol.6, n.2, pp. 48-51. ISSN 1028-4796.

The in vitro antimicrobial and antigiardial activity of fluid extracts from Artemisia absinthium L., Stachitarpheta jamaicensis L. and Teloxis ambrosioides L. was evaluated by using the assays of dilutions in fluid medium and the production of formazan, respectively. The minimal inhibitory and microbicidal concentration of microorganisms of human and clinical interest and the percentage of growth inhibition of G. lamblia were estimated. The extracts showed antimicrobial and antigiardial activity, which was related to their traditional use. However, other aspects should be analyzed in detail to propose the use of these extracts in the development of phytodrugs.
