SUAREZ-BENITEZ, Yunnier et al. Educational multimedia: energy sources impact on human and environmental health. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.4 Epub 01-Jul-2023. ISSN 1561-3194.
Introduction:
the indiscriminate use of fossil fuels produces the emission of gases that are toxic to life. In the face of this problem, renewable energy sources are emerging that have a positive impact on the environment and particularly on health.
Objective:
to develop an educational multimedia to raise awareness of energy sources and their impact on environmental and human health.
Methods:
the multimedia was developed in the period 2020-2021, with the application of the tools: JClic and Gimpshop with GPL/Linux license. Theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and systemic-structural; and empirical methods: documentary review and surveys of students and experts. To determine its effectiveness, an experimental study was carried out without a control group. The universe consisted of all medical students (1218) and the sample consisted of 120 students selected by stratified random sampling.
Results:
The multimedia "energy sources impact on health" was developed for medical students. In their evaluation, the experts gave a rating of very adequate for all the items to be evaluated. After its use, the students showed a high level of knowledge about these contents and an excellent level of acceptance of this computer product.
Conclusions:
the multimedia product developed presents this subject in a didactic and up-to-date way, which contributed to a greater knowledge among medical students. It is a tool that allows for a greater culture of saving.
