DELGADO COLLT, María E.; ARTEAGA LINZAN, Ángel R. e RODRIGUEZ RAMOS, Pedro A.. Preventive Maintenance in tuna canning companies: performance and influence on the sustainability. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2024, vol.27, n.1, pp. 1-9. Epub 16-Jun-2024. ISSN 1815-5944.
The tuna industry plays a fundamental role in the development and sustainability of Ecuador's economy. Sustainability has become a topic of great importance; therefore, the main objective of this research was to evaluate the level of performance of preventive sustainable maintenance, in tuna canning companies, based on its influence on the three pillars of the sustainability, based on the application of Key Performance Indicators. An evaluation model was applied based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process methodology, composed of a group of indicators measuring the impact on the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental and social. Using the Likert scale, the most relevant indicators were weighted and selected, and subsequently weighted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process methodology. Company 1 achieved a sustainable maintenance performance rating of 7.68 (rating: good), company 2 achieved 9.45 (rating: excellent), and company 3 achieved 6.61 (rating: fair). The results obtained in the evaluation of sustainable maintenance in the companies under study show opportunities for improvement, suggestions and instructions to take the necessary measures to improve sustainable maintenance.
