GONZALEZ REGO, René A.; JUAREZ GUTIERREZ, María del Carmen e BELLO SANCHEZ, William. Population dynamics of the coastal municipalities in Cuba. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.19, pp. 50-65. ISSN 1817-4078.
The analysis of population dynamics of the 94 municipalities in the Cuban coastline, has yielded the following regularities: the 50% of the coastal municipalities, from 1990 to 2010, show a clear tendency to growth. Of its components, the birth rate behaves similarly to what happens at the national level, although with regional differences between the extremes of its behavior. On the other hand, the mortality trend presents high to very high values, which together with low and very low birth rate values, denote very low and even negative natural growths, specially in the west and prominently in the aged territories. The 72,6% of the coastal migratory behavior have a medium to high expulsion of population and municipalities with more immigration are located in the western region.
