Objective:
To characterize the state of the process of heritage education in public spaces by means of the sociocultural agent's work in the urban historical center of Matanzas.
Methods:
The researchers rely on quantitative-qualitative approach, though qualitative analysis prevails, based on historical, logical analytic, synthetic, inductive, and deductive procedures. The analysis of documents, observation, and interviewing were also used extensively.
Result:
The paper offers a description of the process of heritage education in public spaces as conducted sociocultural and community agencies.
Conclusion:
The study allows to highlight the strengths and weakness of the process of heritage education in public spaces. The former includes the appropriate infrastructure of the public spaces, the high experience and qualification of agents, and the motivation of the community; Weakness are related to the need of better planning of educational actions directed to the community and a closer connection between sociocultural and community agencies.
