BOCANEGRA GARCIA, Carlos Alfredo  e  VENEROS URBINA, Bilmia. The variation of the coastline causes an impact in the environmental, social and economic sphere in the reed horse fishing. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.4, pp. 218-222.  Epub 02-Ago-2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

Huanchaco is the main spa in Trujillo that has ancestral fishing in “Caballito de Totora” as its main tourist attraction. In the last four decades, Huanchaco has been negatively impacted by the coastal erosion that destroys the beaches of Las Delicias and Buenos Aires, the origin of which lies in the construction and expansion of a protection structure for the Port of Salaverry called the sand retaining mill. This research provides information on the variation of the coastline as a threat to ancestral fishing, referring to the loss or retreat of the coastline, modification of the ecosystem of wetlands or "reeds" and of the ecosystem of species of soft or sandy bottoms. Supported in qualitative methodology, techniques such as observation and comparison of information with resources such as the use of Google Earth and comparison of annual figures are used, analyzing the trend of variation in the coastline in the years 1969, 2003 and 2019. The results indicate that 96.2 meters of coastline has been retraced, which means loss of a large sector of the wetland ecosystem or "reeds" modifying the habitat of coastal species, impacting ancestral fishing.
