VALDES MORALES, Yanet; VIERA LEAL, Leidy e BETANCOURT LOPEZ, Ernesto. Pseudopapiledema secondary to drusen of the optic nerve. Case report. Acta méd centro [online]. 2021, vol.15, n.2, pp. 309-313. Epub 30-Jun-2021. ISSN 2709-7927.
Introduction:
optic nerve drusen are rounded structures of a calcic nature that develop in the optic nerve, and evolve dynamically in adulthood and cause serious campimetric alterations. They tend to appear in small optical discs probably due to the blockage of axonal transport that originates their accumulation.
Case report:
22-year-old female patient, with no personal pathological history, who came to the hospital consultation because she had, for some months, dizziness, bifrontal headache refractory to treatment and decreased visual acuity, especially of the left eye.
Conclusions:
the capacity of these hyaline or drusen bodies to damage the layer of nerve fibers and their effect on visual fields can become incapacitating for the patient's daily functions.
