Objective:

This article aims at describing a teaching experience developed at Central University "Marta Abreu" of the Villas, Cuba, in devising and using a methodology for independent study orientation and control in teachers’ continued education courses.

Methods:

The methodology was used in the postgraduate course "The management of the scientific information in pedagogical research", by distributing contents along meetings, the employment of the self-learning guides and the use of different methods of control of tasks.

Result:

The collected data confirms the validity of reliability of selected quantitative and qualitative descriptors.

Conclusion:

The experience proved that devised methodology fulfilled quality and pertinence requirements and that its application is feasible.
