In the present work, the scientific production on social development is analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the ability of various professionals to research issues such as equity gaps in two historical periods of the Cuban Revolution: social development programs after the crisis in the 1990s, and more recent reforms. With a systematization of researches promoted and endorsed by the Master Program in Social Development of FLACSO-Cuba, relevant findings are identified to guide social development policies as the main transformations of these periods and their impact on inequalities. These reveal potentials and limitations in the management of this type of knowledge, from which actions are proposed to continue strengthening training and scientific research in terms of development with equity.
